King Air 300 Cockpit Overview

King Air 300 cockpit overview

This King Air 300 model is intended to be operated from the virtual cockpit. Therefore, the accompanying 2D panel is very basic. We're looking to make a proper 2D panel as a future update. Also, many of the instruments are FS2004 default gauges. The reason for this is simple: we have neither enough information or time at the moment to create accurately working custom gauges to replace them. Will that happen in the future? Maybe, but of course we can't promise anything.

Please note that the 2D panel does not support all the functions available in the virtual cockpit. This manual focuses on the controls found in the VC.

It is possible to replace the 2D panel with another panel, but such action is not supported by AFG, and no technical support will be given regarding changing the panel beyond what is explained below.

Important notes for modifying the panel!

  • The [Vcockpit01] section of the panel.cfg included with the plane must be copied into any other panel that is intended for this aircraft. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!
  • Some switches using FS default variables will not work (such as generator and battery master switches).
  • Some of our gauges and switches require input from invisible control gauges, do not remove anything from the panel.cfg which is included.
  • DO NOT overwrite or modify the included panel.cfg without making a backup copy first!
  • Any modification work is unsupported and takes place at your own risk.
  • If you wish to replace gauges with others, please refer to the "instruments.bmp", located inside the panel folder, for their location and size information. This bitmap is not required by the panel, it is for reference only. It can be deleted safely if you wish to do so.

Both yokes can be hidden independently by clicking on the red button on one of the handles.
