With the introduction of much higher performance aircraft over the last 20 years, the current approach chart system has reached its limits. Many of the approaches in our system today are outdated and downright dangerous, leaving little time for a pilot to catch up if there is an issue in the cockpit or he gets behind his or her airplane. To top it off, there is little standardization in the non-precision approaches across North America.
With this in mind, Dr. Nat Sims developed the SaferApproach tm non-precision approach system. Using technologies available today, the idea is to standardize the many approaches to small airports in our system, making them safer and more accessible to more pilots than ever before. Our hope is to not only significantly affect safety in the aviation system, but also to do our part to make our transportation system as a whole, safer and more efficient.
